Here at the new Swof Media office in Birmingham we decided to setup a Geckoboard as it seemed like the perfect way of keeping up to date with client and business activity. For those of you not familiar with Geckoboard, its a real-time dashboard that displays metric data from loads of online sources. For example, data from Google Analytics can be displayed so that you can monitor how much traffic a site is getting.

We use our Geckoboard for a combination of viewing business activity and also to view key client statistics and performance. Its on a big screen in the office so all of the team can keep an eye on things. But this meant powering a machine all day everyday so we needed a low-power, low-performance computer…

I have been looking for an excuse to use a Raspberry Pi and I know there are a lot more exciting uses for them out there, but this seemed like the perfect way to run the geckoboard. So thats we’ve done and we use the Midori web browser at full screen and it works a treat!
